An important decision concerning the Mundo centre
An important decision concerning the Mundo centre

The Mundo project has obtained a positive opinion of the Country Jury in Budapest. The decision makes it possible to start the procedure of applying for the building permit.

The multifunctional MUNDO Centre planned by Echo Investment is to be built in the centre of one of the biggest and most affluent districts of Budapest – Zuglo.

“The Mundo project is to constitute the centre of Zuglo district in the future and besides its commercial function will also fulfil important public and social roles. The city-forming character of Mundo attracts a lot of attention of the local authorities, which have been actively participating in the discussion on the final shape of the project. As a developer striving to achieve optimum functional and architectural solutions we are open to the proposals of the new city authorities and have also been adjusting the project to their expectations. There will be more public space and green areas created in this project. The construction will be divided into two stages. The second stage will, among other things, include the building where the new office of the district council of Zuglo is to be located,” says Marcin Materny, shopping centre sales director at Echo Investment SA.

The MUNDO complex will combine the retail, entertainment, service and recreation functions. The architecture of the new centre harmoniously connects and emphasizes particular functions of the project. The project will be implemented in two stages. The total area of the first stage of the MUNDO centre will be approx. 110,000 sqm, its shopping center GLA - 35,000 sqm and the office space will amount to 4,000 sqm. There will be approx. 170 shops in the complex and customers will have approx. 1,650 parking spaces at their disposal. On the top floor there will be a fitness club combined with a green garden of the roof. The schedule of the following stage is still being established with the local authorities.

The author of the design is the Polish architectural office Quadra in cooperation with the Hungarian BH Épitész Studio Kft.

The planned date of launching the work connected with construction of the centre is Q3 2011. The multifunctional Mundo Centre is to be opened in 2013.
