On 2 October 2026, on the 82nd anniversary of the end of the Warsaw Uprising, Warsaw Breweries will host a walking tour commemorating the role played by the United Warsaw Breweries during the Nazi occupation and the Warsaw Uprising. Participants will also visit today’s Warsaw Brewery, which operates in the preserved, historic part of the former Haberbusch and Schiele brewery complex. The event is free of charge; due to the limited number of places, registration is required.

The event will take place on 2 October between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., with participants divided into four groups. Each tour will begin with a walk led by a Warsaw historian and guide. Participants will learn about the history of the Warsaw Breweries, which is inseparably intertwined with the history of the city.

- During the Second World War and the Warsaw Uprising, the United Warsaw Breweries became known as a place that supported Fighting Poland—the Home Army—as well as the persecuted population. The enormous grain reserves that Haberbusch and Schiele made available to the city’s residents came to be known as the granary of fighting Warsaw. This history is commemorated by plaques located throughout the complex, created by Janusz Dziano, a Warsaw historian born in the Wola district, says Milena Nawrat, spokesperson for Warsaw Breweries.

Today, Warsaw Breweries are writing a new chapter in their history. The complex is now a vibrant restaurant district and a meeting place where the present blends with Warsaw’s history and industrial heritage. A brewery still operates at the heart of this revitalized urban space - the modern Warsaw Brewery, which draws on the traditions of the former Haberbusch and Schiele breweries.

This will be the next stop on the tour. Participants will learn about the current beer-brewing process and how the site’s brewing traditions are being continued today.

- We currently brew 18 types of beer, using modern solutions while preserving the history and character of the former Haberbusch and Schiele breweries. Over the past five years, we have won more than 40 medals at international brewing competitions, including in Japan, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Portugal. We brew beer with the same passion, love and enthusiasm that guided the brewers who worked here 180 years ago, says Dawid Bąk, brewer at Warsaw Brewery.

At the end of the tour, participants will receive a commemorative March beer with a collector’s label prepared especially for the occasion.
