On the 21st of March 2007, during the press conference organized in Zuglo town hall – XIVth district of Budapeszt, Echo Investment company presented the current state of works on the project of multi-functional centre which is going to be erected in Bosnyak Ter – the main square in the very centre of Zuglo district. The conference was honoured by attendance of Mrs. Joanna Stępińska - Polish ambassador in Budapest, Mr. Gabor Demszky - Budapest mayor, and Mr. Dr. Leonard Weinek, Zuglo mayor.
During the meeting with Hungarian media Mr. Piotr Gromniak – member of board of directors of company Echo Investment presented the story of works on this investment, preliminary architectural concept and functional programme of the building and also a schedule of further activities connected with design, realization and commercialization.
Mayor Demszky and mayor Weinek emphasized in their speeches great importance of Echo investment for Zuglo district and for the whole Budapest, and also connecting this project with planned development projects for the city: complex in Bosnyak Square is going to be connected with other planned city investments – among others with sport-recreation centre, rebuilding of communication system, building of a new subway line.
Mayor Demszky acknowledged this Polish investor's project as a model example of Hungarian-Polish economic co-operation.
MUNDO – Investment in Bosnyak Square
MUNDO – this is how the Hungarian Echo Project is called – shall be erected in the very centre of Zuglo and it is going to become in the end a new centre of this district. The value of the investment shall equal about 150 mill. Euro. According to the assumptions made, the new centre shall be not only a shopping centre but also a place of meetings, entertainment in leisure time and organization of cultural events. It is planned also to locate the Zuglo mayor’s office and the office park in the complex.
The aim of the investment being realized is creating an attractive public place for citizens offering high space and functional amenities. According to the idea of Zuglo city council, the elaborated project shall agree with the green character of the district and designed squares, passages and spaces shall jointly emphasize its public functions.
Commencement of realization of the investment is planned for the year 2008 and its completion for the year 2011. The value of the whole investment amounts to about 150 mill. EURO.
Currently, after elaboration of the programme study by American Designers' Bureau LaGuarda Low and completing the preliminary architectural conception by Hungarian studio RAS, Polish bureau MOFO shall deal with details of the project. Project’s architecture shall be created in co-operation with specialized Hungarian studio which shall be chosen within a few weeks from now (advanced negotiations with a few architectural bureaus are in progress in Budapest right now).
