Warsaw Breweries' iconic stairs undergo a vibrant summer transformation with street art installation
Warsaw Breweries' iconic stairs undergo a vibrant summer transformation with street art installation

Warsaw Breweries, a vibrant urban quarter, has unveiled its latest artistic intervention: a stunning large-format graphic transforming its iconic stairs. Created by renowned illustrator Julia Hanke, the 17-meter installation seamlessly blends urban dynamism with the joyful spirit of summer evenings, serving as a powerful manifest of openness, community, and city life.

This spectacular piece is the latest addition to Warsaw Breweries' recognized street art scene. The stairs, connecting the pedestrian-friendly Haberbusch and Schiele zones with the Historical Cellars Square, have once again received a fresh visual identity. Julia Hanke, a landscape architect by training and recipient of prestigious accolades including Piórko, Polish Graphic Design Awards, and KTR, has exhibited her work internationally in Barcelona, Berlin, and the European Parliament.

Hanke masterfully captured the rhythm of Warsaw Breweries' unique space, crafting a design that pulses with life and inclusivity. Her visual narrative celebrates community and the simple joys of everyday life. This summer redesign of the stairs is an open invitation to share moments outdoors.

- Summer, for me, is synonymous with outdoor activities like badminton, dancing with friends to DJ sets, yoga, or open-air cinema at sunset. I’ve woven all these elements together, colouring the stairs with the hues of summer. My illustration aims to represent the openness and accessibility of Warsaw Breweries – a place that unites people through diverse activities and excludes no one,” says Julia Hanke.

Embracing Polish art and promoting local talent is a cherished tradition at Warsaw Breweries, which has long become a home for exciting street art projects.

 - The stairs at Warsaw Breweries have already become a celebrated canvas for top Polish artists, whom we are always eager to support. Julia Hanke’s work injects a tremendous burst of positive energy into our space. We want everyone who visits us to feel completely at ease here – whether they're coming for morning yoga or an evening cocktail with music. This graphic is a vibrant manifesto of the summer we’ve all been waiting for - states Milena Nawrat, spokesperson for Warsaw Breweries.

This new visual spectacle on the stairs is just the beginning of a summer packed with attractions. Throughout the season, Warsaw Breweries transforms into a lively event hub. Guests can look forward to Sunday morning yoga sessions, Tuesday open-air cinema screenings, weekly DJ sets (Wednesday to Saturday), and a wide gastronomic offer across the restaurant gardens filling the squares and alleys of the former brewery.
