The third Wola Jazz Festival is starting at Warsaw Breweries
The third Wola Jazz Festival is starting at Warsaw Breweries

On June 7th, the next Wola Jazz Festival will begin, lasting for a month. The stage will be graced by outstanding musicians known both in Poland and internationally in the jazz scene—Dorota Miśkiewicz with guest Henryk Miśkiewicz, Bogdan Hołownia, Kuba Więcek, and Ania Rusowicz, who will this time perform in a blues-jazz version. Entry to the concerts is free of charge.

Concerts within the Wola Jazz Festival will take place on Saturdays at 6:00 PM on the outdoor stage of the Central Garden in Warsaw Breweries. On June 7th, the series of musical events will be opened by Dorota Miśkiewicz with a guest appearance by Henryk Miśkiewicz. They will present the latest album by Dorota Miśkiewicz, "Bons Amigos," recorded in Rio de Janeiro with Brazilian stars and the Latin jazz icon, guitarist Toninho Horta. Dorota Miśkiewicz is one of the most important Polish jazz voices, a composer, and lyricist. She has released nine albums of her own, some of which have been nominated for the Fryderyk award. In recent years, Dorota Miśkiewicz has repeatedly won the "Vocalist of the Year" title in the annual ranking of the "Jazz Forum" magazine. On stage, there will also appear guest Henryk Miśkiewicz — a virtuoso saxophonist and legend of Polish jazz.

The next Saturday, June 14th, will belong to the Bogdan Hołownia and Magdalena Este. Bogdan Hołownia is a jazz pianist and composer who has collaborated, among others, with Ewa Bem, Lora Szafran, Urszula Dudziak, and Michał Urbaniak, as well as with world-class artists such as Dave Clark, Skipp Hadden, and George Zonc. In 2001, he received the Fryderyk award for "Jazz Album of the Year". During the concert, he will premiere his project "Idyll" — original compositions enriched with lyrics by Jan Wołek. He will perform together with bassist Wojciech Pulcyn, percussionist Patryk Dobosz, Robert Murakowski on trumpet, and Magdalena Este — a vocalist and co-creator of the "Jazz for Children" project, known for her velvety voice tone and exceptional musical sensitivity.

On June 21st, Ania Rusowicz will appear on stage, presenting a blues-jazz interpretation. The artist is widely recognized as a guardian of Polish big-beat tradition, adding freshness and spaciousness to her original work with contemporary arrangements. She will invite listeners into the colorful, carefree world of the 1960s and 70s. She is a four-time Fryderyk laureate and has won the "Superjedynka" award. She has released seven albums. On stage, she will be supported by Andrzej Gondek, an outstanding jazz guitarist and Fryderyk laureate, and Bartosz Łęczycki, one of the best and most versatile harmonica players in Europe.

The final concert, concluding the festival on June 28th, will feature jazz standard repertoire played by saxophonist Kuba Więcek in a jazz trio with bassist Michał Barański and drummer Michał Miśkiewicz. Kuba Więcek is also a composer, music producer, and recipient of numerous prestigious music awards, such as Paszport Polityki, Fryderyk, Onet's Oświecenia, and Trójka's Mateusz. Since 2023, he has led the group hoshii, which goes beyond jazz by combining elements of hip-hop and electronic music. He is also a regular resident at the Warsaw club Jassmine and hosts the original cycle Jazz Cats, connecting jazz musicians from around the world.

- This is our third edition of the Wola Jazz Festival. I believe that, like the previous editions, it will attract many fans of demanding music, as well as new listeners. We want to promote jazz music and its talented creators. Because Warsaw Breweries is a place open to people, entertainment, art, and culture — says Milena Nawrat, press spokeswoman for Warsaw Breweries.

The events will take place at Warsaw Breweries, at 60 Grzybowska Street. Admission is free.
