Warsaw Breweries finishes the year 2022 as the best urban revitalization in the world. Echo Investment's flagship "destination" project received the prestigious MAPIC Award 2022 in the Best Urban Regeneration category. Recognition on the international arena proves that not only the inhabitants of Warsaw fell in love with the project.
Warsaw Breweries' development began in 2016. This almost empty plot of 4.4 hectares has become a full-fledged, vibrant part of the city, with three modern office buildings, five residential buildings and four historical structures: Warzelnia (the Malthouse), Leżakownia (the Storage Cellars), Willa Fabrykanta (the Brewmaster's Villa) and Laboratorium (the Laboratory). In a place where the most famous beer in the country was brewed some years ago, a well-designed place was created, in which historical and modern architecture, private and public spaces, greenery and buildings all exist in harmony. The JEMS Architekci studio is responsible for the architectural design of the complex.
The concept of revitalization, integration with the city, applied ecological solutions and innovations introduced in Warsaw Breweries were appreciated by the international Jury of MAPIC Awards. The awards are granted during the MAPIC trade fair in Cannes - an event that is one of the largest and most prestigious of its kind in the world. This year, Warsaw Breweries was the only Polish project nominated in the competition, and in its category it competed with investments from France and Spain.
The confirmation of the top-class Polish architecture is the fact that domestic projects more and more often receive the highest awards in international competitions. Already in 2011, Galeria Echo in Kielce received an award at the MAPIC Awards. In the following years two Polish projects were successful in the MIPIM Awards competition: in 2020, Monopolis in Łódź, and in 2021, Elektrownia Powiśle in Warsaw. The year 2022 belonged to Browary, which was among the finalists of both competitions.
"We are proud that Warsaw Breweries has been recognized on the international scene. It is a proof that our idea of creating “destinations” – large, city-forming projects that are in line with cites’ needs and complement them, is perfect agreement with the world’s urban and social trends. Warsaw Breweries is a great example of Echo Investment’s approach to building wisely and responsibly designed fragments of the city. This award is a proof for us that Breweries is a new landmark of the capital" says Nicklas Lindberg, CEO of Echo Investment.
In addition to the office space designed in accordance with the latest trends, as well as over 1 thous. apartments for sale and rent, Warsaw Breweries attract with open, green public spaces and a well-tailored gastronomic and entertainment offer. In 2021, 26 food and beverage concepts opened here, including a very popular among the locals Food Hall Browary. Warsaw Breweries have become a meeting place popular with business, people from Warsaw, tourists as well as celebrities and influencers.
The success of Warsaw Breweries is also confirmed by many awards that Echo Investment received during last years, including: GRAND PRIX and the title of the best public space in the prestigious competition of Architectural Award of the Mayor of Warsaw, as well as the Accessibility Leader in 2022 and the finalist of this year's MIPIM Awards in the Best Mixed-Use Development category.
