Innovative lift system from ThyssenKrupp in Q22 office building
Innovative lift system from ThyssenKrupp in Q22 office building

The most modern and the first in this part of Europe system of TWIN lifts, developed by ThyssenKrupp, is to be used in the 155-metre Q22 office building which is under construction in the centre of Warsaw.

Echo Investment has signed a contract with ThyssenKrupp, which provides for the supply, assembly and launch of a system consisting of nine TWIN sets (one set consists of two independent lifts in one shaft), plus two sets of escalators and five single lifts. TWIN cabins are placed in one shaft one above the other, they are not connected with one another and they can simultaneously move in opposite directions. Thanks to such a solution, which is supported by a central control system and a patented security system, the cabins respond to users" calls independently, which thanks to the optimisation of their movement leads to improving its flow and efficiency and translates into considerably shorter time of waiting for a lift. “This is the first in this part of Europe such advanced system of lifts in an office building. I am glad that we will have an opportunity to use it in Q22. The system has been winning the global market and it has been gradually replacing popular "double deck" lifts which are popularly used in the tallest buildings nowadays,” says Igor Grabiwoda, director of the Team of Architects from Echo Investment"s Office and Hotel Department. The ThyssenKrupp lifts will be working in the DSC destination selection system. In the system a user indicates the floor they want to go to rather than calling a concrete lift. The computer system will calculate which lift will be able to carry out the task the fastest and it will direct the user to the lift. The speed of the lifts is 6m/s, which provides excellent times both in terms of waiting and moving between the floors. All the devices comprising the system have an energy saving function, including energy recovery from the braking of the lifts. The footage presents the method of operation of the TWIN system. ThyssenKrupp Elevator, one of the global leaders in the production of lifts, is a company with a long-term international experience, which is part of the international concern ThyssenKrupp AG. ThyssenKrupp Elevator employs over 42,000 people. Its global chain has 800 sales and service branches in 67 countries, which provides optimum contact with clients. The company has been present in Poland since 1994. It provides innovative top quality handling equipment which is produced in ThyssenKrupp"s European factories.  Q22 is a 155-metre office building which offers an office area of over 50,000 sqm and is under construction at the site of the dismantled Mercure hotel. All the materials collected during the demolition of the building have been recycled – 1,500 tonnes of steel and 25,000 of concrete aggregate have been acquired in this way. The construction of the project is progressing according to schedule. The underground work is currently in progress, the bracing slab between floors -4 and -5 is being built. The construction of the underground part is to finish at the end of September and early October this year. The contractor of the shell of Q22 is Modzelewski & Rodek. The design of Q22 was created in the renowned Kuryłowicz & Associates architectural studio in cooperation with Buro Happold Polska. The completion of the construction work on the office building is planned for Q1 2016. The project is worth PLN 500 mln. www.q22.com.pl
