Echo Investment, in cooperation with the Veolia Group, has launched at Fuzja the first electric vehicle charging station powered by a photovoltaic installation in Łódź. The photovoltaic system has been installed at Fuzja as a result of a strategy, implemented by the developer, based on responsibility for co-creating good cities.
A photovoltaic installation is an installation that produces electricity from solar radiation. In other words, it uses renewable energy to power it. Veolia Energia Łódź is the operator and creator of the installation located at Fuzja. The solar power plant has a capacity of 3.8 kW and can produce up to 3.8 MWh of electricity. This means that the installation connected to the electric vehicle charging station will allow up to 73 full charges of the car with a 52 kWh battery capacity and a range of 400 km. Hence, a car charged there will be able to travel over 29,000 km per year. During daytime charging, the station takes energy from the photovoltaic system and replenishes the rest from the power grid. However, during charging at night, the station takes energy from the power grid. Thanks to this, the energy that will be produced from the sun will be available for use at night or when it is needed in greater amount.
- Veolia will be involved in the implementation of the goals set in Ekopakt – a strategy for Łódź, supporting various green initiatives, including the ones in the field of electromobility. Active participation in creating the electromobility market is one of our strategic directions. Electric vehicles are key to getting rid of sources of smog in urban areas, such as transport based on petroleum-based fuels. Veolia approaches it comprehensively, because electromobility can only be fully ecological when the energy that powers it comes from green sources. Having this in mind, we have developed the photovoltaic installation located in Łódź in the Fuzja investment. We have all the appropriate infrastructure and knowledge to cooperate with partners such as Echo Investment in developing projects that have a positive impact on the environment. The partnership cooperation between Veolia and Echo is a natural consequence of striving to achieve business goals along the path of sustainable development - says Anna Kędziora-Szwagrzak, President of the Management Board, CEO of Veolia Energia Łódź.
The photovoltaic installation was created for the future residents of Fuzja, who will be able to use renewable green energy after moving into the apartments. The installation has been connected to the electric vehicle charging station situated next to the Fuzja sales office. Thanks to this, people who currently visit the sales office and own electric vehicles can use the solar charger free of charge.
- When implementing an investment, we look at it from the perspective of trends and social changes that are clearly visible in today's world. Caring for the environment is definitely one of them. As a developer creating city-forming projects, we feel responsible for the environment in which we operate. This was one of the reasons why we decided to install a photovoltaic installation powering the charging station for electric cars in the area of Fuzja. This is the first such initiative in Łódź. We have invited the Veolia Group to implement this project, as this partner has the values consistent with our thinking and the sustainable development strategy implemented by Echo – says Kazimierz Monkiewicz, CSV Manager at Echo Investment.
Fuzja is the project that will consist of residential buildings, offices and historic buildings offering space for services, shops and restaurants. Also new urban squares, shared spaces and green areas, which will occupy almost 4 hectares, will be created there. In mid-2021, the first fragment of the square at the Power Plant will be opened to the public, creating a new, unique space for meetings and social activities. All this will make Fuzja a unique place on the map of Łódź, attractive for employees, residents and tourists.
