A year full of debuts – Echo Investment on the Polish retail market in 2019
A year full of debuts – Echo Investment on the Polish retail market in 2019

This year was marked by memorable debuts. Galeria Młociny, the first in Warsaw and the biggest in Poland retail complex by Echo Investment, attracted the much-anticipated Primark clothing brand to the capital. Warsaw Brewery was chosen as a location of the first restaurant by Robert Lewandowski and the debut of Craft&Beer Kumpel Atelier, a unique concept of the founder of the Baczewski restaurant. What is more, Libero in Katowice decided to develop its entertainment activities on an unprecedented scale in 2019 and organized 150 events for a local community as well as opened the Square of Joy.

The opening of Galeria Młociny was one of key events of 2019, not only for Echo Investment, but for the entire retail sector in Poland. This complex is about 85,000 sqm of modern, well-designed space, where over 6,000 sqm is dedicated to food and entertainment. Its key part - a unique food zone - was divided into functional climatic zones designed for different tastes. You will find there, among others cozy cafes, food trucks and restaurants offering outdoor dining. Galeria Młociny offers also coworking spaces in addition to family and food zones.

“Our lifestyle is changing, and the way we think about retail real estate is changing consequently. Nowadays, we want to handle affairs quickly and the best in one place. As a result, we can observe a completely new approach to entertainment and food zones in an increasing number of places, as well as enriching a range of services provided by shopping centers with office space. We go a step further and actively look for unique solutions and non-standard tenants, such as the Workshop Musical Academy or the CitySpace coworking zone in Galeria Młociny”, says Marcin Materny, Board Member of Echo Investment responsible for the retail sector.

The latest shopping center in Warsaw was also appreciated by Primark, an international clothing brand, that confirmed last year that it will open its first store in Poland in Galeria Młociny in spring 2020, creating over 250 jobs. This is not the end of debuts at Galeria Młociny – it was here that the stores of producers such as Gagliardi, Sloggi and Mayoral were opened in Poland for the first time. Also Inditex, TK Maxx, H&M and Van Graff chose Młociny while looking for a location for their latest concepts, and one of the biggest eobuwie.pl showrooms in Poland will be opened there soon.

Not yet put into service, but already full of renowned tenants is another project of Echo Investment – the mixed-use Warsaw Brewery project that is located in the heart of Warsaw's Wola district. The Meeting and Flavors District being developed in Warsaw Brewery will fill the entire city quarter with unique restaurant concepts, cozy cafes and service outlets. The developer's ambition is not only to return the abandoned area of nearly 4.5 ha to the city, but also to attract the best restaurants, cafes, interesting shops and services that will naturally complement the city. Robert Lewandowski with partners will open here his first restaurant. What is more, in the 170-year-old Storage Cellars, Craft & Beer Kumpel Atelier will be created, an original project by Marek Zarkhin, a renowned Ukrainian restaurateur and a head of the Kumpel Group. Founders of the neighboring Munja will appear in this multifunctional Echo Investment’s project with a new concept - adriatic Pjaca, a two-level restaurant that will welcome its first customers this fall.

“Being in line with our strategy, we put considerable emphasis on our destination, city-forming, mixed-use projects. Warsaw Brewery will be the first such a complex developed by us, that is why it is so special for us. The project is located in the heart of the city, being a well-balanced fusion of past, present and future, and a great place to live, work, entertain and relax. Although not yet fully completed, the Warsaw Brewery project is arousing enormous interest now. This is reflected, among others, by tenants who believed in the potential of this place and chose it for their market debut” comments Marcin Materny.

After the grand opening in November 2018, Echo Investment has successfully developed a  position of the Libero shopping center on the Silesian market. Last summer, the developer opened the modern and vibrant Square of Joy in front of the building. As part of strengthening relations with the local community, Echo Investment developed Libero's entertainment and cultural offering on an unprecedented scale and organized almost 150 events that attracted Silesians to the complex – including lotteries, concerts, an open-air cinema or a theater for children.
