Echo Investment, which is preparing for the construction of Galeria Echo Katowice, has organized an architectural competition concerning the development of a square in front of the facility.

“We are designing Galeria Echo Katowice with attention to every detail and in response to concrete needs of its future users. One of more interesting elements of our project in terms of its image is an external square which will be an elegant and functional place,” said Jarosław Czapski, architect from Echo Investment"s Shopping Centre Department.
“We want the square to be a unique place, that is why we organized a competition concerning the design of a unique outdoor area. We have invited three experienced architectural studio to participate in the competition: MOFO, RSPLUS and JRK72. The design work is already in progress. The first proposals will be presented in mid-February and the competition will be adjudicated at the end of the month. We hope that our cooperation will result in the development of attractive urban space, a new "main square" for southern Katowice. We will follow the example of the best European projects so as to create a modern area which will delight people with its landscape architecture, will be friendly and well integrated with its surroundings,” adds Czapski. Galeria Echo will be developed on a plot with an area of 54,000 sqm. The facility will offer a retail and entertainment area of 42,000 sqm on three floors. Apart from shops and service outlets of the most popular chains as well as a supermarket, the shopping centre is planned to include a 7-screen cinema, a billiard club, a playground for children, squash and badminton courts, restaurants with terraces as well as a medical centre. The facility will be developed on Tadeusza Kościuszki Street, which is one of the main traffic routes in the city and is used by as many as 15,000 cars per hour. www.echokatowice.pl
