The Galaxy shopping and entertainment centre in Szczecin, which has been developed and is managed by Echo Investment, has obtained BREEAM In-Use certificates which confirm the energy efficiency of the building, the care for the environment in the management process and the lowering of its operating costs.

BREEAM In-Use is a system of building assessment, which takes into consideration a lot of features of a given project, including: transport accessibility, quality of the materials and the structure, operational and construction management as well as water and waste management. The Galaxy shopping centre obtained BREEAM In-Use certificates with a very good grade in the Asset Rating (the building) and the Building Management (management quality) categories. “We are very happy with such a distinction. The certificates confirm our involvement in the environmental protection and are a proof of the fact that the Galaxy building is constructed and managed with a view of lowering its operating costs, which benefits our tenants and clients. The BREEAM In-Use certification process confirmed a good quality of the procedures we apply in relation to the maintenance of the building. The quality of the inspection and maintenance of the systems and technical devices were highly evaluated,” says Wojciech Knawa, head of Echo Investment Property Management. The BREEAM In-Use certificate is awarded by BRE (the Building Research Establishment) on the basis of materials and a report drawn by a licensed assessor who cooperates with the management team. Galaxy is the largest shopping and entertainment centre in the West Pomeranian region. Its leasable area amounts to 42,000 sqm. Galaxy offers 170 shops representing various industries, a multi-screen cinema and a Real hypermarket to its customers. The facility has been designed by the OTH architectural studio was opened in 2003.
