Green light for Mundo shopping mall in Budapest
Green light for Mundo shopping mall in Budapest

The Hungarian Ministry of National Economy has consented to the development of MUNDO, a shopping mall of the Polish developer ECHO INVESTMENT, which is to be built in Budapest’s Zuglo district. According to the law that have been in force since the beginning of 2012 and are aimed at controlling the new commercial developments , the developer had to present the project’s impact on the market and the environment to a commission subordinate to the Minister of Economy. The Minister’s decision confirmed that the construction of MUNDO complies with sustainable and eco-friendly development and the project itself is needed.

Ahmet Cetin, Project Manager MUNDO, commented on the consent „Plaza Ban Committee”: "We were expecting the approval because of the needs and wishes of the district. In the heart of Zuglo, development of a complete district center was crucial. We also understand that this support gives us big responsibility. We strongly believe in the potential of Hungary. Therefore, we will do everything to speed up the process of remaining permits, and we aim to start the project as soon as possible. We would like to thank to everyone who believed in this project, supported the project, particularly Zuglo administration and habitants of Zuglo". ____________________________________________________________________________________________
MUNDO complex shall combine commercial, entertainment, service, office and recreational functions. The architecture of the new center harmoniously connects and appropriately accentuates particular functions of the project.  The multifunctional Mundo centre is being developed in the centre of one of the biggest and most affluent districts of Budapest – Zuglo. The complex combines retail, entertainment, service and leisure functions. The  GLA will be 37,300 sqm. There will be 170 shops in Mundo and customers will have a car park with 1,450 parking spaces including P+R at their disposal. Its opening is planned for 2015. The design of the centre has been prepared by the Hungarian architectural studio Bánáti + Hartvig Architect in cooperation with Studio Quadra of Warsaw. The Mundo project is to constitute the centre of Zuglo district in the future and besides its commercial function will also fulfil important public and social roles. The construction will be divided into two stages. The second stage will, among other things, include the building where the new office of the district council of Zuglo is to be located. www.mundocenter.hu
