Construction of a model primary school in Mokotów starts

Echo Investment Group has started the construction of a primary school for 450 students at Konstruktorska Street in Warsaw. The public educational facility will serve the youngest residents of this part of Warsaw's Mokotów district, fitting in with the change of its previous office character into a friendly, urban quarter. The construction of the school accompanies the development of the city-forming Modern Mokotów project carried out by Archicom of Echo Investment Group.

A new primary school in Mokotów, developed by Echo Investment and Archicom, is an important part of a multifunctional project inspired by the 15-minute city formula and it involves the construction of around 1,600 apartments in an urban quarter of Marynarska, Wołoska, Domaniewska and Postępu Streets. Investors envisage transforming this part of the capital city - so far known mainly as an office district - into a place comfortable for everyday living, offering easy access to public transport, education, services and interesting leisure activities, as well as over 3.5 hectares of green areas.

Once completed, the school will become a municipal resource. It will be a new location for the existing No. 119 primary school named after the 3rd Berlin Infantry Regiment operating in nearby Wierzbno. The facility will provide public education in grades 1-8 (two grades in each year group) and a preschool division. Students will start there in September 2025. It will also be the first public school in Poland built for the city by a private investor.

The laying of the symbolic foundation stone for the construction of the school took place on 5 December with the participation of representatives of the Mayor of the City of Warsaw, the authorities of the Mokotów District of the City of Warsaw, the staff and students of the Primary School No. 119 and the companies involved in the project.

- The industrial part of Służewiec is changing into a residential area, and the new educational facility is a response to the voices and needs of the area's residents, especially the youngest ones. The construction of the school in Służewiec Północny perfectly supplements an educational gap on the map of Mokotów, which we have been striving to fill, both as the local government and as parents of children growing up in our district," says Rafał Miastowski, Mayor of the Mokotów District of Warsaw.

The new school was designed by WWAA, whose architects are co-creators of the so-called Warsaw educational standards in terms of good planning of educational facilities. In addition to a two-storey building with classrooms, laboratories, a canteen, sports spaces and a public library, there will also be an open square - a meeting place that will benefit residents of all ages. The design includes many eco-friendly solutions, such as partial power supply by photovoltaic panels and the use of grey water for flushing toilets and watering plants.

- When designing a new multi-generational estate, it is crucial to think about the residential part as well as the utility part. That is why we are building a school for today's times. As an investor who is changing this part of the city, we are delighted to have such excellent partners with whom we are carrying out the first construction of a public school in Poland, financed entirely by a private company. I would like to thank the authorities of Warsaw and the Mokotów district for their kind cooperation, the administration of Primary School No. 119 for their immense inspiration, as well as the architects of WWAA for their exceptional commitment to creating a child-friendly place," comments Małgorzata Turek, Management Board Member of Echo Investment Group.

At the same time, Archicom has started the construction of the Modern Mokotów residential estate. Three buildings will be constructed in the first phase of the project. Green courtyards and a playground are planned in their immediate vicinity. On the ground floors, there will be a retail and service zone, a residents' club and a workshop for DIY enthusiasts. The entire project was designed by architects from the renowned Warsaw-based BBGK studio, who are well acquainted with the realities of the Służewiec district, which Archicom intends to transform in a few years into a friendly city quarter for living, relaxing and spending leisure time. The completion of a premiere phase of Modern Mokotów is planned for the first half of 2025.
