2,500 people will visit Q22 this weekend
2,500 people will visit Q22 this weekend

Nearly 10,000 tonnes of iron, 34,000 cubic metres of concrete, glass with a four times larger area than the Piłsudski Square and cables which could connect Warsaw and Rome – these are the numbers describing the Q22 skyscraper which has been built at the junction of Jana Pawła II Avenue and Grzybowska Street. Residents of Warsaw have been invited to its opening, which is planned to take place next weekend, on October 15th and 16th. Nearly 2,500 people will see the building from inside and they will be able to admire the panorama of the city from its uppermost floors.

“We obtained an occupancy permit in July, we have successfully finished the trial period of all installations and devices in the building and we have regulated them. Now we can celebrate the success of this project,” says Rafał Mazurczak, member of the board of Echo Investment, which has developed Q22. Q22 has 38 office floors, it is 155-metre tall and has an area of 53,000 sqm – which is more than the sevenfold area of the Wawel Royal Castle. It was designed in the architectural studio of Prof. Stefan Kuryłowicz and it was built at the site of a not very successful building of the Mercure hotel. It will include seats of: Deloitte, Allegro, some renowned law offices and advanced research and development centres. Rafał Mazurczak underlines the huge scale of this project. “The construction of Q22 was a great challenge for Echo Investment. It involved 80 Polish construction companies as well as a few hundred subcontractors and suppliers. Over 750 employees was working on the site at the peak moment in March 2016. In the construction process we used enough steel to build 190 goods wagons, twice as much concrete as the amount used for the construction of the Świętokrzyski Bridge as well as 1,700 km of electric cables, 20 km of pipes and 7,500 fire sprinklers,” says Rafał Mazurczak. Q22 is the most spectacular development among Echo Investment"s projects completed in Warsaw so far. The developer plans more projects: the Browary Warszawskie residential and office complex on Grzybowska Street and a recently purchased retail and service project on Towarowa Street. Q22 in numbers
82 – the number of companies which worked directly at the building site, nearly all of them were Polish firms;
9,500 tonnes – the amount of steel used for the construction process, which would be enough to build 190 rail wagons;
34,000 m3 – the amount of concrete used. It is twice as much as the concrete used to build the Świętokrzyski Bridge;
53,000 sqm – the area of offices. It accommodates app. 5,000 employees and it is 7.5 larger than the Wawel Royal Castle;
81,000 m2 – the amount of glass in the facade of the building. The area of the Piłsudski Square in Warsaw is four times smaller;
20 km – the total length of pipes installed in the building;
1,700 km – the length of cables. It equals the distance between Warsaw and Rome;
360 – the number of washbasins installed in the building, you could use a different one every day of a year.
